The two series: Art of Bike and Earthbound that are represented here reflect the underlying rhythm and energies I sense in both the bike as a symbol, and the human body, our signature here on this physical earth plane.
I am inspired by sheer will and strength it can take to not only survive but to allow joy and power and balance to manifest in our lives. I imagine us to be creatures of pure energy that for a while operate though a body of flesh, blood and bone, controlled by an intense and almost unfathomable mind that somehow we must learn to use rather than letting it use us. We are compressed by gravity yet we are capable of being visionaries, whether it is expressed through the arts, athletics, or sciences....
Through the various poses I have chosen I explore the themes of transformation, vision, ecstatic living, pain, loss, fortitude....The planes, lines, light and shadow become a kind of map of the interior processes we undergo. A language of spiritual vitality that transcends the seeming limitations of perceiving reality through a carbon based life form.
